Heartland Therapeutic School is a Level III special education school that serves Southwest Iowa. The school is part of a consortium of approximately 20 school districts. Many of the students have a history of severe mental health disorders, trauma histories, and academic difficulties which may be discussed at some point in the break out session. Topics covered will include the structure of the school and process for a referral, discussion of specific cases and relevant information related to their progress and their individual goals.
